This is Bakari, an elephant painted on leather (cow hide) and is sold framed as per the images.
It has been a while since I did a large Elephant painting. In my studio I have large leather hides in various sizes, colours and textures and spent some time deciding on the size and colour of the composition. The dark brown, lightly textured hide was chosen to matched what I had in my mind's eye.
The painting was undertaken over about 7 weeks. Its lowkey lighting needed the gradual addition of dust being kicked up - adding some movement and life rather than a near-static portrait.
The completed painting is framed and given the nature of the paint process finish I have developed making it waterproof, it does not need the addition of glass to protect it. The paint surface can, and should be touched - awaken all of your senses!
Framed size 104 x 64 x 3 cm (41" x 25.2" x 1.2").
Unframed (actual image size) approx 88 x 48 x 0.5 cm (34.6" x 18.9" x 0.2") . This painting can be sold unframed if you prefer - please get in touch for the price without the frame.
My painting style means building up lots and lots of layers with many different colours but the end result is worth the hours of creating the texture.
As this painting does not require any glass there will not be any 'reflections' or 'shadows' to spoil your viewing once hung in your home. The artwork is sealed - artwork you can touch.
Mainland UK postage included.

Taking care of a painting on leather is easy - if it becomes dusty simply wipe down with a dry clean cloth. Do not use any cleaning products. As with any original artwork do not hang in direct sunlight or above an open fire as this can give off soot.
Refunds will be given once product is received back in good order. Any damages must be reported within 24 hours receipt of the item. Please see our full T&Cs regarding returns. Your statutory rights are not affected.
